Pupil Premium Funding

What is Pupil Premium Funding?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to the school specifically to address inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier counterparts.

National research shows that children who have been eligible for FSM at any point in their school life generally have consistently lower educational attainment than those who have never been eligible.

Many pupils entitled to FSM (and indeed those who are not) often face multiple vulnerabilities which are a barrier to good achievement. We use pupil premium funding to eradicate these barriers over time and to accelerate pupil progress, closing the attainment gap between FSM and non-FSM children.

The most disadvantaged pupils, including all children who are looked after (CLA), benefit from pupil premium. Any child that has been registered for FSM in the past six year period (known as the “Ever 6”) qualifies for the funding.

Pupil Premium Funding in YR and KS1

Children in KS1 are all entitled to have a school meal at no cost; this is the Universal Free School Meal. Parents of children in YR and KS1 need to register their entitlement to FSM in order for the school to receive the Pupil Premium funding for their child; we encourage all our parents to discuss their possible entitlement to FSM with the school.  Please discuss this in confidence with the school office.
